About The Daring Bakers

Me, a Daring Baker? Do you believe that? Well now you can!

I am still wondering if I was hit on the head by a log when I decided to accept Ivonne's invitation to join their brilliant group.

As I carry on pondering on what I am actually doing in the group let me tell you a little about the Daring Bakers and introduce the entire group to you.
The Daring Bakers is an elite group of exquisite people, all with one thought in their heads - Baking! The group was started in November 2006, when Lisa of La Mia Cucina and Ivonne of Cream Puffs in Venice decided to challenge themselves to bake pretzels for the very first time using the same recipe.

As the months went by, the baking group continued to grow, until it was finally decided that this "little baking group" had to have a name and The Daring Bakers were born!

Today, The Daring Bakers span the world as bakers of all nationalities come together once a month to try something new in the kitchen!

Our mission, if we choose to accept it, is to go where no puff pastry has gone before and no sponge cake dares to go. Each month a challenge is set by one of the members. For the rest of us this means taking the recipe, sticking to it, using the few changes that are allowed and creating it in our own interpretation. What comes out of the recipes is anyone's guess.

I joined the group in April 2007 and have never looked back again.

All I can say is it's going to be a lot of fun and I am going to have a ball.

The current challenges are always  due towards the end of the month, so look forward to many great interpretations of the same recipe.

In March 2009 with almost 2000 members we opened the doors to The Daring Kitchen, our brand new website. As the member list grows you can browse through the Daring Blogroll to see who is baking what!
